Responding to requests for employee information
Handle the requests HR gets for information about employees: an employee asking for their own data (with the UK subject access rules as a worked example and US state examples), references for former staff, employment verification for lenders and landlords, managers asking for colleagues' records, police and legal requests, and trade union requests. Verify who is asking, find the basis for sharing, share the minimum, and record the decision. Local law and your own policy apply; involve your data protection lead or legal adviser.
