UniFi troubleshooting from the knowledge base: offline devices, Wi-Fi problems, VLAN paths and loops

Work through the problems Ubiquiti's help center documents most: devices that show Offline, Isolated or won't adopt (LEDs, IP checks, TCP 8080), slow or failing Wi-Fi (signal, airtime, interference, DFS, minimum RSSI, legacy and IoT clients), and wired faults (VLAN tags along the path, loops and STP, duplicate IPs, rogue DHCP and DNS).

  • Ubiquiti UniFi

Skills you'll practise

  • Read UniFi LED states and decide the next check for a device that is Offline, Isolated or not adopting
  • Check a device's IP address and explain what the 192.168.1.20 fallback address or an unexpected subnet points to
  • Diagnose slow Wi-Fi using client signal, AirView utilization and airtime, and choose a fix that matches the cause
  • Trace a VLAN from an access point back to the gateway and find the port that drops its tag
  • Configure STP priorities, STP Edge, BPDU Guarding and Loop Protection the way Ubiquiti recommends
  • Stop duplicate IP problems from static addresses or rogue DHCP servers with DHCP Guarding
