Small-site network rollout plan: addressing, staging, cutover and handover
For MSP and field network technicians who install or replace the network at a small site (a firewall, a switch or two and a few access points) and write the plan for it. Prerequisite: 'Site survey checklist for a small office install'; subnetting and VLAN basics help. You'll write an address and VLAN plan, stage and baseline equipment before it goes on site, write a cutover plan with go/no-go and rollback, choose tests that prove the network works, and hand over documentation and backups. The method follows NIST's plan, configure, test, deploy and manage phases for firewall deployments and NIST's configuration management guidance; your organization's change procedure, templates and standard configurations go where this course marks a company placeholder.

- Plan staging: receive, verify, update and pre-configure equipment, and record a baseline configuration
- Write a cutover plan with a schedule, notifications, go/no-go criteria and a rollback plan
- Choose and record the tests that prove the new network works, including traffic that must be blocked
- Hand over the site with updated documentation, configuration backups, inventory and support contacts
