Project status reporting: honest RAG ratings, variance and escalation

For project coordinators, project managers, team leads and engineers who write status reports for a sponsor, a board or a customer, and for the people who read them. Take 'Project planning: scope, schedule and dependencies' first: it covers baselines, tolerances and updating the schedule. This course is about the report itself. You'll choose a Red, Amber or Green rating from evidence against written criteria, calculate schedule and cost variance against the baseline and compare it with tolerance, write a report that leads to decisions, spot optimistic or misleading reporting, and escalate a worsening status early without bending the rating under pressure. Public examples come from UK government sources: the delivery confidence ratings in the NISTA annual report on major projects, the National Audit Office's framework to review programmes, HM Treasury's optimism bias guidance and the GOV.UK Service Manual. Your organisation's rating criteria, tolerances and governance come first. Ends with a supervisor-graded status report.
