Structured troubleshooting and test equipment in the field

Diagnose faults on site with a method rather than guesswork: confirm the symptom, gather history, test the likeliest and cheapest causes first, split the system in half, change one thing at a time, and prove the fix. Choose and check test equipment (measurement category ratings, calibration, leads) and record readings that the next person can trust. Equipment, readings and specifications are fictional; manufacturers' service information and your procedures govern.
