UISP for wireless ISPs: devices, sites, airMAX links and subscribers

Use UISP the way Ubiquiti documents it for operators: the Network module (devices, sites, subscribers, gateways) and the CRM module (clients and services), adding devices with the mobile app, the UISP Key or discovery, gateway-based traffic shaping, suspension and aggregation, firmware and backups, and the airMAX concepts behind point-to-multipoint service: AP and station, channel width, airView, airMAX Priority and compatibility between radio families.

Skills you'll practise

  • Distinguish UISP's Network module terms (device, site, subscriber, AP, station, gateway) from CRM terms (client, service)
  • Add a factory-default device to UISP with the mobile app, the device's UISP button and UISP Key, or discovery
  • Explain how a UISP Gateway, the Addresses list and CRM service plans drive traffic shaping, suspension and aggregation
  • Plan firmware and UISP updates with backups, and explain why a backup can't be restored to an older UISP version
  • Choose channel width and use airView or airMagic to pick a channel, and explain the effect on stations
  • Diagnose a station that won't connect using Ubiquiti's compatibility rules and settings checklist
