Preventive maintenance schedules for small sites: UPS batteries, firmware, environment and evidence
For MSP and field technicians, and office IT staff, who look after small offices and comms closets with a few network devices and a UPS. It assumes you can already log in to a switch and a UPS management page; 'Power awareness for small sites' is useful background. You'll build a maintenance schedule with an owner and evidence for every task, plan UPS battery checks and replacements from age, temperature and self-tests, set a firmware cadence using NIST SP 800-40's maintenance groups, sort environmental and fire-safety checks by who owns them, and record evidence and chase overdue items. Fire-extinguisher rules use OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157 as a US example; other countries have their own rules, and the course does not grant a licence or qualification to service fire equipment, electrical installations or UPS internals. Ends with a supervisor-graded planning exercise.
