Staffing a rota fairly: rest, night work, US overtime and fair rotation
For team leaders, shift supervisors and rota coordinators who build or change rotas for shift teams. Complete 'Planning staffing, cover and overtime' first: it covers turning workload into staff-hours, minimum cover and fair overtime offers. This course goes deeper into the checks every rota should pass: UK rest breaks, daily and weekly rest for adults and young workers, who counts as a night worker and the limits that apply, US federal FLSA workweek and overtime basics, sharing unpopular shifts by a visible rule with a tally to prove it, and handling swaps so they don't break the rules. Jurisdictions: UK working time rules (GOV.UK and Acas) and US federal law (Department of Labor FLSA fact sheets). Some jobs have exceptions, and contracts, collective agreements and US state law can add more. This is not legal advice: HR and payroll decide pay, exemptions and contract questions.
