Writing a role profile and competency framework

For HR generalists, hiring managers and team leads who need to describe what a role requires in a way that can be assessed fairly and used for development. No prerequisites; 'Hiring: writing a fair job description and advert' is useful alongside it. You'll run a small job analysis to find the critical tasks and competencies, write competency definitions that are clear and observable, describe proficiency levels with behavioural indicators, assemble a role profile that says how each requirement will be assessed, and decide how one framework can serve hiring, performance and development. Models used: the US Office of Personnel Management's competency and job analysis resources and the UK Civil Service Success Profiles. Your organisation's grading structure and HR approval process apply on top.
