Meeting notes that capture decisions and action items

For anyone who takes or circulates notes from team, project or client meetings: coordinators, team leads, project staff and assistants. It builds on 'Minutes, action logs and clear business writing', so take that course first. You'll separate decisions, actions, open questions and discussion in live notes; write short decision records with context, options, who decided and a status; write action items with one owner, a checkable deliverable and a date; use shared Teams meeting notes and Copilot recaps without exposing content or circulating unconfirmed actions; and correct a set of notes, superseding changed decisions instead of rewriting them. Grounded in Microsoft's Teams and Copilot documentation, the UK government's architectural decision record framework and Microsoft's ADR guidance (adapted for everyday team decisions), and the UK ICO's data minimisation principle as an example. Your organisation's rules on records, recording and AI tools come first. Ends with a supervisor-graded notes correction.
