Troubleshooting IP intercoms and door entry: registration, audio and door release
For low-voltage, field and network technicians who support IP (SIP) door entry systems that have stopped working. You should already know how these systems are installed from 'Intercom, door entry and commercial AV basics' and be comfortable with IP addressing and VLANs. The course covers scoping a fault before touching hardware, reading SIP registration and call responses, fixing audio faults, tracing a door that won't release or won't lock, and writing a fault record. Examples use one vendor's configuration manual (2N IP intercoms) to show the settings and logs you'll meet; other makes use similar ideas with different names. Changes to how a door locks or releases are design decisions: this course doesn't qualify you to change door hardware or fire-door arrangements. Ends with a supervisor-graded fault-finding task.

Skills you'll practise
- Scope an intercom fault by symptom, affected stations and recent changes before touching hardware
- Interpret SIP registration and call failure responses from the door station's events, syslog or packet capture
- Diagnose audio faults such as no audio, one-way audio and failed audio tests
- Trace a door that won't release or won't lock through the switch, output, wiring, lock type and access controller
- Write a fault record with evidence, cause, fix and retest results
